The Big question today is "What Would Jesus Do". Christian "crookstores" are making a killing selling WWJD T-shirts, bracelets, license plate frames and other marketable items to sucker more money out of gullible Christians who think they are doing God
a favor by wearing such things. WWJD paraphenalia gets them off the witnessing "hook"; after all I'm witnessing by wearing my WWJD bracelet
Beside using the t-shirt - bracelet as an excuse to keep your mouth shut, the WWJD message does NOTHING to get the gospel of Jesus Christ out to those who desperately need him. It rather teaches a morality based salvation. It says "Jesus wouldn't do this or that so you shouldn't. Or, Jesus would do this or that, so . . . you should also. We would like to challenge the WWJD folks with a short list of things that the scripture says that Jesus has done or WILL do. You see if they are things you should do
1. Jesus will, by his word, judge you. He will remind you of every idle world you have ever spoken: That includes dirty jokes, idle chat, lying, and just words that fail to glorify God.
Mt 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. 37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
2. Jesus scalded with his words the Scribes and Pharisees. He said: Mt 23:33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? Perhaps you should find some hypocrites and try the same. (Try looking in the mirror to find a hypocrite)
3. Jesus will someday pronounce your judgment if you insist on getting to heaven by your good works. WWJD is cute, and sounds nice, but it is clearly a shallow substitute for doing right, and it presents a false gospel to those who hear it or see it.
4. Jesus told one gentleman who desired eternal life to sell all his possessions and give the money away. Sounds like a good idea. Any takers? Could you get eternal life that way? I trow not. Your salvation is a free gift.
A. He humbled himself and bled to death on a ROMAN cross.
B. He went to hell and suffered the flames of torment for you.
C. He rose from the dead three days and three nights later and proclaimed victory over death.
D. He offered you eternal life if you will repent of your evil ways and put all your faith and trust in him.
Conclusion: What Jesus did and what he will do are two different things. What he did, he did for you. What he will do is judge you according to your own goodness, and finding that you come short he will cast you into a lake of fire. Want to read the verses? O.K.
Revelation 20:12 (kjv) And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
Would you like to be judged according to YOUR works? Come on, be honest here, ALL of them? If not then you should
take off your braclets and other parephenalia, repent of your sin, and trust completely and wholly in the shed blood
of Jesus Christ, who died in your place and rose again from the dead to save your soul.
